“Conscious Skins” has prompted students to think through textile making as a spatial, social and affective engagement with materials, knowledges, and practices. In this video at White Barn Farm in Upstate New York, students immerse in an ecosystem of fiber agriculture, namely sheep’s wool, to see firsthand where materials come from and how both manual and industrialized processes contribute to fabric structures.
